All About Brentwood New Hampshire

Brentwood NH was originally a parish of Exeter NH. In 1742 they petitioned Governor Benning Wentworth to be able to have their own meetinghouse and minister paid for by public funds. Before the Europeans settled here this was home to Pennacook Abenaki tribes who farmed, hunted and fished the area. The name originally came from a suburb in London named Brentwood or "Burnt wood" for the burning of 40 acres in 1177 of King Henry II's land to create a clearing for cultivation.

Brentwood is the Rockingham county seat and is home to Rockingham County Courthouse, Rockingham County Registry of Deeds, Rockingham County Nursing Home and Rockingham County Jail. Nowadays it is a predominately residential community of 3,780 according to the 2006 Census with a rural feel.
